Choosing by sleep position
Side sleepers need a firmer, higher-loft pillow that fills the gap between the ear and shoulder, keeping the spine straight. Back sleepers do best with a medium-height pillow that supports the natural curve of the neck without pushing the head too far forward. Stomach sleepers need a low, soft pillow — sometimes very flat — to avoid neck strain. If you share a bed with someone who sleeps differently, choosing two separate pillows rated for each style makes a noticeable difference.
Fill type and temperature
Down and airdown pillows (such as Mazon's Airdown Goose Pillow) offer a soft, luxurious feel with natural temperature regulation — they breathe well and don't retain heat in the way some synthetic fills can. If you or your partner sleep hot, a cooling pillow from the Mazon Hot Sleepers range uses phase-change materials or breathable construction to actively draw heat away from the head through the night.
How often should you replace your pillow?
Most pillows have a useful life of 1–3 years depending on fill quality and care. A simple test: fold your pillow in half and release it. A good pillow springs back to its original shape. If it stays folded, it's time to replace it. Pairing your pillow with a Mazon pillow protector extends its life and keeps it hygienically clean between washes.
